🏡 Thank you so much for being a valued member of the Women and Climate Slack Community! The goal of this Slack Community is to serve as a safe space for exchange, learning, and networking over all things climate for all women and nonbinary people. To ensure this is a comfortable and safe community for everyone, we have a few guidelines that we ask all members to follow in their virtual interactions on our Slack:

1. Be Engaged: We aim for this community to be active and engaged in order to bring real value to all members — in addition to being a fun place to hang out online! This starts with you: your contributions matter; we’d love to hear about learnings from your climate journey and encourage you to ask for help whenever you need it. To help the community thrive, please aspire to give more than you take and help other members whenever you can. Your participation makes this a better, stronger community!
2. Be Tidy (part 1): Before posting, please take a peek at the topic of the channel you are posting in (at the very top of your Slack window, to the right of the channel name) and ask yourself if it’s the best spot for your post (i.e. is your content best suited for this channel?). Please avoid cross-posting to more than one global (= numbered) channel because it can lead to notification overload without adding actual news value. Keep location-specific posts to location-specific channels (starting with #meet-[city]). When in doubt where to post, check our Slack Guide or feel free to reach out to us!
3. Be Tidy (part 2): Please don’t spam. It’s OK to ask for help if you are looking for help amplifying your social media post/ podcast/ newsletter etc., or to spread the word about your business/ product/ services if you are looking for clients/ customers/ votes in a competition - this is what the #9_amplify-your-work channel is for. Please don’t self-promote in any other channels than #9_amplify-your-work, and refrain from sending unsolicited direct messages to other members. Violations will be subject to removal.
4. Be Helpful: When you post, please help others easily understand your message by providing context. Examples: don’t just post a link to e.g. a LinkedIn post with no context; instead describe what is the focus of the post, why you are sharing it, and then link to it. Please include relevant details such as Who, What, Where, When. Keep location-specific posts to location-specific channels (starting with #meet-[city]; see our Slack Guide for a full list).
5. Be Inclusive: Use inclusive vocabulary where possible, be kind to one another, and be open to learning about everyone's varied experiences of life. Generally speaking, this means refraining from derogatory language related to a woman’s gender(s), sexual orientation or preference(s), physical or mental dis/ability, race, religion, and life choices including those of a financial, employment or health-related nature.
6. Be Respectful: Debate and discuss constructively! No name-calling or mean-spirited comments. Be agreeable, even when you disagree. We have a zero tolerance for hate, and you will be removed immediately for any hateful messages.
7. Be Appropriate: Please consider this space may be used by people of all ages and backgrounds, and keep content to a semi-professional tone. No explicit images or graphic language. Mocking and harassment will not be tolerated.
8. Be Resourceful: The Women and Climate Community is maintained by volunteers and unfortunately we won't be able to respond to every inquiry and request. We encourage you to be resourceful, self-sufficient, and help each other out. The #start-here Slack channel is a great starting point for you to explore all our self-serve community resources and offerings!

The Fine Print:

1. Warnings: In case someone violates the above guidelines, but it is likely coming from a place of ignorance rather than malice, one of our Slack admins will send them a direct message requesting that they adjust their behavior and/or remove their post(s).
2. Removal: Women and Climate Slack admins reserve the right to delete any post, or remove any member of the community for not following the above community guidelines.
